Visit Lucerne Lucerne, capital of the Canton of Lucerne, is a
main Swiss tourist destination in
Central Switzerland and my hometown. Lucerne derives from an antique fishing village on
the Lake of Lucerne, where was founded a Benedectine Monastery, Saint
Leodegar. Following to the building of the railway through the St.Gotthard,
the city of Lucerne grew in importance up to become what it is now, a
favourite tourist destination.
The city does regularly organize an important summer festival for
classical music, at the end of every summer. Lucerne, which covers over 25
km2, is a lovely, lively, small city, rich of culture and past traditions,
ideal based to explore other important
sights in Switzerland.
