| Eating and Drinking Oslo If you want to see
a slice of Scandinavian beauty, breathe some crisp, fresh air and make a few
friends along the way, pack your bags and head to Oslo. With a thriving
nightlife scene to help you while away the wee hours (which hardly get dark
during the long summer days), you couldn't have a more spectacular setting
for your exploits.
Surrounded by snow-capped mountains and nestling at the head of a 110-km
long fjord – there's no mistaking – this is Viking country. Must-sees are
the Akershus Fortress, the Resistance Museum, the beautiful Vigeland Park
and of course the Munch Museum. Even though it's party time, Oslo still
retains a very relaxed and friendly vibe; after all it is the home of the
Nobel Peace Prize.
The Bar Royal Christiania Hotel - Biskop Gunnerius Gate 3 -
Telephone: 00 47 23 10 80 00
Intimate up-market watering hole in the
Royal Christiania, one of the hippest hotels in the city. Non-guests are
welcome and can join moneyed regulars on the leather seats and sofas, or
cosy up at the mahogany bar for whiskeys, brandies and fine cigars. It‚s
stylish and plush in a knowing Scandinavian way, and the central location
makes it a popular pit-stop before a restaurant or club. Sidle up to the
long-legged blonde drinking Jameson by the bar, ask her what's hot, and
maybe she will join you. |
| Sports & Activities Oslo Oslo offers a number
of activities both indoor and outdoor. In the winter time you can go cross
country skiing in the woods and downhill at Tryvannskleiva. And you can
ice-skate in down town Oslo!
In the summertime you can swim, paddle kayak, cycle, play golf or
football, and lots more.
