Visit Tianjin - Tianjin is situated in the north-eastern part of North China plain with the Yan Mountains to the north and the Bohai Sea to the east. Its name means 'the place where the emperor crossed the river.' Situated only two hours by car from Beijing, Tianjin is the third largest municipality city in China. Tianjin is also easily accessible from many key international cities in the world through its Tianjin Binhai International Airport.
Blessed with a variety of tourist attractions such as the 1,000 year-old Dule Temple and Panshan Mountain with its interesting rock formations, Tianjin with its rich historical background and graceful architectural styles attracts both tourists at home and abroad. It is also a thriving business hub and manufacturing is the largest and fastest growing sector of its economy. It is also an important industrial base comprising of petrochemical industries, textiles, car manufacturing and mechanical industries.
The Chinese government has announced plans to develop Tianjin City into a financial hub for north China, making it the third economic center for the country after Shenzhen and Shanghai.
Tianjin Centre is located within Tianjin City's vibrant Central Business District, the heart of the city's commercial and retail scene. The project spans over 116,000 square feet out of a total area of over 1.6 million square feet. Tianjin Centre comprises of two towers - the top stories of the east tower will house service apartments, while the west tower will house Raffles Tianjin and prime office space. A luxury shopping mall links the two towers.

Shopping Tianjin

With an enormous number of shops and a wide selection of merchandise, it is no wonder shopping is a major pastime in Tianjin. The entire stretch from Hepinglu to Zhongxin Park is an ideal shopping street as the area buzzes with activity until late evening. Theaters, specialty shops, restaurants, departmental stores, and ice-cream parlors line both sides of the street.

Binjiangdao is another treat for shoppers, as there are eight blocks of building devoted to commerce. With over 100 street stalls selling clothes and countless curio shops, boutiques and emporiums, you can find virtually anything from silk flowers to chamberpots! This is also an area for a lively night market, which is thronged by theatergoers and shoppers every night.

Tianjin is home to eight carpet factories. Visit any one of the eight manufacturers for good bargains if you are searching for small tapestries and handmade carpets in traditional and modern designs. Kites are popular souvenirs to buy in China; a commendable place to get these articles would be the Arts and Crafts factory at Huanghedao where you will also find Wei kites, named after the master craftsman, Wei Yuan Tai. In Tianjin, look out for New Year posters, which are supposed to be posted on front doors during the festive season. These lunar New Year posters are believed to bring good luck and make interesting gifts.
